Thanks Giving Day, Every Day!

What does the Bible say about Thanks Giving? Is it enough to thank GOD in our prayers & in his presence? Does it simply say to give thanks with lips? Prayer & Songs?

Just remembering to thank GOD in prayer make us like Pharisees who are blindly indulged in the rituals so much, that they have forgotten about the true essence of the GOD Almighty. Didnt they detest Christ for his love & mercy for people of the margins of then world.

Thanking GOD is not an exercise. It is a walk of life (in Christ). Let us pray to the LORD for his holy spirit to help us understand the upcoming message and lead us into HIS light of truth.

Salvation

Thank GOD that we are ALIVE. Yes, Every moment we are alive is HIS pure mercy and grace.

1 Corinthians 1:4-5

I always thank God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus.  For in him you have been enriched in every way--in all your speaking and in all your knowledge-

A Standing Witness for Christ

Thank GOD by standing as a witness giving testimonies.

Isaiah 12:4

In that day you will say: "Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done, and proclaim that his name is exalted.

Being Generous

Thank GOD by being generous to the less fortunate, by tithing, by supporting charities & missionaries, by supporting your Church, by supporting GOD’s kingdom.

2 Corinthians 9:11-12

You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.  This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of God's people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God.

Acceptance

Thank GOD by accepting that our GOD is a GOOD GOD giving us perfect gifts. Thank GOD by not rejecting or complaining of things, people and situations.

1 Timothy 4:4-5

For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer.

Let the WALK do the TALK

Thank GOD in everything you do and say, i.e. alignment of your personal, professional, social and spiritual life with the WORD of GOD.

Colossians 3:17

And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Thank GOD for his directions & righteousness.

Psalm 7:17

I will give thanks to the LORD because of his righteousness and will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High.

Enduring Love

Why thank GOD in all our circumstances for he is mother like GOD, His love for us endures forever.

Psalm 106:1

Praise the LORD. Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.

Jeremiah 33:11

 "Give thanks to the LORD Almighty, for the LORD is good; his love endures forever." For I will restore the fortunes of the land as they were before,' says the LORD.

Thanks Giving Day, Every Day

Thank GOD always. Do not set aside a specific time, specific occasions, are only during the moments of victories. Thank GOD in all our circumstances. Remember Romans 8:28

1 Thessalonians 5:18

give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

HE is the KING, GOD Almighty, Christ the Savior!

Thank GOD because HE is the KING. He is our father. He is our protector. He is our provider. He is our peace, joy & hope!

Psalm 95:2-3

Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.  For the LORD is the great God, the great King above all gods.

As Thanks Giving to the LORD is mainly practiced through the worship songs and prayers, we have to remember that Thanks giving is not just a lip service but should be loudly resonant in our daily walks & talks (James 1:22). Most importantly we should recognize what is not thanks giving to the LORD and should be watchful of it like Cribbing, Bragging, Bitterness, Greedy, Self reliance, Pride, Depression, Prolonged grieving etc.

In this Thanks Giving Day, let us THANK GOD for ALL the things, ALL the trials, ALL the Happiness, ALL the peace & for ALL HIS Love,…Calvary Resurrecting Love! Amen!

Facing the Giants

1 Sam 17: 34 – 37 But David said to Saul, “Your servant has been keeping his father’s sheep. When a lion or a bear came and carried off a sheep from the flock, I went after it, struck it and rescued the sheep from its mouth. When it turned on me, I seized it by its hair, struck it and killed it. Your servant has killed both the lion and the bear; this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, because he has defied the armies of the living God. The Lord who rescued me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine.”

David did not have any fear to face the giant, because he was reminded of God’s faithfulness in the past. The same God who rescued him from the lion and the bear would rescue him from Goliath too.

In our life we tremble at the giants, because we forget God’s faithfulness in the past. We tend to forget all the victories he has won for us, all the valleys he has brought us through, the mountain tops he has climbed with us, the Jordan experiences, the red sea miracles, the wilderness road where he carried us, the financial breakthroughs and the list goes on.

As we enter this season of Thanks Giving, let us try to keep a Thanks Giving journal giving Him the utmost praise for all He has done for us in 2013 and years before. This will enable us to face the giants in our life with confidence as we know our God is the same yesterday, today and forever!

For God’s children, the best is yet to come. So rejoice dear child of God as you await the dawn of 2014.

HIS word is Truth!

HE is just enough for you and me!

Gideon – Mighty Warrior

Judges 6:14  The Lord turned to him and said, “Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?”

Many of us get encouraged from the part of the above verse “Go in the strength you have”. But the key phrase is “Am I not sending you?” It is not about us in the first place, and it is all about God. It is about who is sending us. In your eyes, like Gideon you may look weak and frail, but in god’s eyes you are a mighty warrior for Him. That is all it matters. Not what you think about yourself or what others think about you matters least bit!

Judges 7:2 The Lord said to Gideon, “You have too many men. I cannot deliver Midian into their hands, or Israel would boast against me, ‘My own strength has saved me’.

Sometimes, God intentionally strips people from our life, so He gets the glory. Our fallen nature will tend to boast and He knows it very well. God is not interested in numbers. He is only seeking your obedience. All you have to do is, take the first step in faith. He then, miraculously multiplies the little faith you have. He miraculously multiplies the little strength you have. He miraculously multiplies the little money you have and the list goes on and on.

Judges 7:20, 21  The three companies blew the trumpets and smashed the jars. Grasping the torches in their left hands and holding in their right hands the trumpets they were to blow, they shouted, “A sword for the Lord and for Gideon! While each man held his position around the camp, all the Midianites ran, crying out as they fled.

All Gideon needed was a pot, a torch and a trumpet. He did not need a spear, a sword, a chariot. When he and the 300 men praised God, He fought the battle for them and sent confusion into the enemy’s camp. Sometimes all we need is praise and worship. We can either whine or worship. Worship is a choice we make. We do not need clever words to manipulate people or to win arguments. We do not need great wealth to be happy and peaceful. All we need is a content heart. When the pot and torch can do the job, why need a sword? Similarly when worship can do the job, why wrestle against flesh and blood. Fight your battles on your knees with your hands lifted high and that is the only foolproof way!
